Webinar: Humanitarian action in the time of COVID-19

Across the globe, we are all feeling the enormous pressure of the COVID-19 pandemic. With the disease rapidly spreading, we see governments reacting primarily to protect their societies from the full brunt of the crisis. But countries suffering from armed conflict, with weakened health systems and mobile populations, will be affected more than most. COVID-19 becomes an extra challenge for those already facing the peril of war and for those endeavouring to help them. The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is responding to the crisis in places where systems are at risk of crumbling, acting to strengthen resilience and prepare for the worst.

ICRC Head of Mission in Australia, Leonard Blazeby joined the Australian Institute of International Affairs’ ACT Branch President Health Michael, to discuss humanitarian action in the time of COVID-19, and what the ICRC is doing to respond in some of the world’s most challenging conflicts.
