Argentinian football legend Diego Maradona will undergo surgery for a subdural haematoma within hours, local media reports.
A source also told Reuters that the 60-year-old will have an operation.
A subdural haematoma is a serious condition where blood collects between the skull and the surface of the brain. It is usually caused by a head injury.
Maradona has been hospitalized in Argentina since Monday night for anemia and dehydration.
However, his personal doctor said earlier in the day his condition had been improving.
