Kendrick Lamar Producing New Live-Action Comedy Movie With South Park Creators

Kendrick Lamar, Dave Free, and South Park creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker are producing a new live-action comedy movie. The film, written by Vernon Chatman, will be distributed by Paramount Pictures and will stream on Paramount+. A press release contains the following synopsis for the project:

The film will depict the past and present coming to a head when a young [B]lack man who is interning as a slave reenactor at a living history museum discovers that his white girlfriend’s ancestors once owned his.

According to the press release, production begins in this spring. Brian Robbins, president & CEO, Paramount Pictures, remarked in a statement, “On behalf of Paramount Pictures and the wider ViacomCBS family, we look forward to ushering in the first theatrical collaboration from these creative visionaries, and galvanizing audiences worldwide around a powerful storytelling experience.”

Kendrick Lamar and Dave Free are producing the movie through their their pgLang at-service company. The company was announced back in March 2020.
