Joe Jonas Is Walking Proof We All Need a Great Cardigan

Welcome to Heat Check, a (semi)regular dose of much-needed style inspiration culled from the very best celebrity fit pics around.

I surprisingly have very few cardigans in my wardrobe. It was this past weekend when I came to this realization, after I spotted a photo of Joe Jonas in a wool-blend cardigan with blue, yellow, and gray stripes by Folk (also available here!). I then fell down the rabbit whole, spending a good hour looking at pics of the musician taken over the past couple of months. The man, as I have come to find, loves a cardigan. And not just any cardigan, but one that’s bold, colorful, and great for street style fodder. I share the same sensibility when it comes to fashion, and fully believed that I owned a similar stash. I was wrong.

I own three button-front sweaters: a cotton one in navy blue by J.Crew, a tan cotton-wool blend one by American Apparel, and a spicy number by Romeo Gigli that I miraculously found at a thrift store. I clearly need to step my game up, because we are now living in the moment of the wild and wonderful cardigan.

Tom Holland, for instance, was just snapped in a zig-zag pattern cardigan by Todd Snyder. Justin Bieber sported an oversized wooly one in cream to church services. Johnny Knoxville wore his fitted and in bright red with his pronounced initials on the left panel at the Jackass Forever premiere. And Nick Jonas, along with many ballers, is a big fan of Keiser Clark’s Chevron Knit cardigan. But the champ in this contest is undoubtedly Nick’s bro.

Joe, no matter the event or situation, has a colorful cardigan waiting in the wings. From a stroll with his wife, Sophie Turner, to a cocktail party during Art Basel Miami, to performing on stage with his family band, he has showcased an envy-inducing collection lately. Not only that, but the way he styles them is always on point. Take, for example, his recent outing, a coffee run in Los Angeles, where he wore the striped cardigan by Folk. The way he paired the knit with a double-front utility pants by Carhartt (his distressed with splattered paint), a simple white tee with a smiley face appliqué, a set of white Club C sneakers by Reebok, and aviator sunglasses was, simply put, great. Every piece is a standout on its on, but when joined together, there was just something enchancting about the fit. But the real magic, of course, is found within that cardigan.

I, for sure, need some of that wizardry in my wardrobe. And if you do, too, check out Jonas’s exact fit below.
