Batman star Colin Farrell is to reprise his role as the Penguin in a new spin-off TV series.
The actor, 45, will play the DC Comics villain for a new series on US streaming service HBO Max.
Few details are yet known about the show, but it will be executive produced by Farrell himself, alongside Batman director Matt Reeves, Dylan Clark, and Lauren LeFranc.
In a social media post, HBO Max said: “Every story has a beginning. @DCComics The Penguin (working title), a new Max Originals limited series starring Colin Farrell, is coming to HBO Max.”
Producer Lauren LeFranc tweeted: “Honoured and excited. This is gonna be wild!”
When transformed into the comic book villain, Farrell is barely recognisable as he wears prosthetics.
He previously told PA news agency: “Just being buried… being anonymous beneath all that make-up kind of freed me up in a way I’d never experienced before. I had no fears about how I was being seen or portrayed.”
The Batman, which stars Robert Pattinson as the superhero and Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, has made more than $300 million worldwide since its release earlier this month, Forbes reported.
The Penguin is one of the most iconic villains from the Batman comic books and is typically known for his top hat, monocle, and collection of deadly umbrellas.
Before Farrell, the character has been played by actors including Burgess Meredith, Danny DeVito and Robin Lord Taylor.
