We know that
Harry Styles loves a flared trouser. We also know that he loves a jumpsuit, catsuit—anything one-piece. And you’d have to have buried your head in the sand—and under a rock, for good measure—to not notice his appreciation for bold colors and prints over the last few years. So should it come as any surprise that the man rocked up to the red carpet at the 2023 Grammy Awards shirtless, wearing a not-at-all-understated take on overalls by Egonlab? It should not. But we’re still going to talk about it.
We’re going to talk about it because we simply cannot soldier through the rest of this evening without acknowledging that while he looks great in everything because he is genetically gifted and clearly delights in wearing outré fashion, he also looks like he’s about to attend a barn dance that’s being held in the version of Versailles put forth in Sofia Coppola’s Marie Antoinette. He looks like he wrote the words “hootenanny harlequin” on the back of a napkin and handed it to his styling team. He looks like he walked up to the bathroom mirror, furrowed his brow, steeled his resolve, and said, “Tonight, you are going to wear some motherfucking overalls,” to his reflection.
None of these things are bad. Like we’ve already established, Styles looks great in just about everything, in no small part because of the joy he seems to find in fashion. He’s having fun—and we should all be having fun with him. Tonight, that means acknowledging the overalls. It’s as inevitable a move as him wearing them in the first place.
