Peso Pluma has won Best Música Mexicana Album at the 2024 Grammys for his full-length Génesis. This is his first-ever Grammy nomination and win. The Guadalajara-raised singer won over fellow nominees Ana Bárbara (Bordado a Mano), Flor de Toloache (Motherflower), Lila Downs (La Sánchez), and Lupita Infante (Amor Como en las Películas de Antes).
Génesis is Pluma’s third full-length LP and includes guest appearances from Eladio Carrión, Natanael Cano, and Junior H, among others. Though this was Peso Pluma’s first time at the Grammys, he did get a practice run in by way of the 2023 Latin Grammy Awards, where he was nominated for Song of the Year and Best Regional Mexican Song (both for the breakout single “Ella Baila Sola”).
