Citadel: Richard Madden, Priyanka Chopra Jonas join Russo Brothers’ Amazon series
According to The Wrap, Golden Globe Award-winning actor Richard Madden (Game of Thrones, Bodyguard) and Priyanka Chopra Jonas (Quantico) have officially signed on for the lead roles in the Russo Brothers‘ forthcoming global event series for Amazon Studios titled Citadel. The action-packed spy thriller will consist of multiple local-language based productions in different countries with Madden and Chopra Jonas to star in the U.S. edition which is described as the “mothership” of the whole series.

The multiple installments that will be featured in Citadel will be taking place in the United States, Italy, India, and Mexico with each version told in the countries’ local language. The U.S. edition is reportedly set to interconnect with the other versions.
“[In Citadel] the spies are at the center of the main series, and their double lives will be the focus of the other shows.” Head of Amazon Studios Jennifer Salke said in an interview with the outlet.
The global event series will be written and executive produced by Midnight Radio’s Josh Appelbaum, André Nemec, Jeff Pinkner, and Scott Rosenberg. Directors Joe and Anthony Russo will also be serving as executive producers along with Patrick Moran and Mike Larocca. The Italian edition will be a co-production between Amazon Studios and ITV Studios’ Cattleya. While the Indian version will be developed by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna D.K.

Madden gained worldwide recognition for his role as Rob Stark in the first three seasons of HBO’s Game of Thrones. In 2018, he received his first Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Drama Series for his performance in BBC’s Bodyguard. Madden will next be seen in Marvel Studios’ highly-anticipated film The Eternals starring alongside Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayek, Kit Harington, and Gemma Chan.
Chopra Jonas is no stranger to the action genre as she first starred in ABC’s Quantico which ran on air for three seasons. Citadel will mark the Indian actress’ first major TV project since Quantico aired its last season in 2018. She will next be seen in Robert Rodriguez’s superhero film We Can Be Heroes.
