FIA welcomes joint ACO/IMSA initiative to develop common top class cars

The FIA warmly welcomes today’s announcement by the Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO) and the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) of the development of a technical platform that will enable manufacturers to develop cars eligible for competition in the top classes of both the FIA World Endurance Championship as well as the US-based IMSA series.

Richard Mille, President of the FIA Endurance Commission, commented: “I am really happy about this new initiative which, without doubt, will strengthen our FIA World Endurance Championship. For sure this project will bring to the FIA WEC more Manufacturers and more competitors. The FIA will support this new class of prototypes with our trusted partner ACO.”
