Fortnite has shared a trailer for Festival, a new music-based experience within the game, that features the Weeknd as a headliner. Developed by Rock Band studio Harmonix, Festival allows players to hit notes in time to a song while watching an artist onscreen. Players have the option of performing in a band with their friends or playing solo onstage. It launches on December 9 only in Fortnite. Watch the “Take My Breath”-featuring trailer below.
Though Fortnite was created as a battle royale game, it recently announced an expansion of its creative mode by introducing different in-game experiences like Rocket Racing, Lego Fortnite, and the aforementioned Fortnite Festival.
Fortnite has steadily built up its reputation for crossover music events. Over the years, it has hosted concerts by Travis Scott, Ariana Grande, Kid Cudi, Marshmello, and—as of last weekend—Eminem. It’s also served as a unique place for artists like Dominic Fike and J Balvin to debut songs while performing in the game.
