Big Thief’s Adrianne Lenker has announced her new solo album: Bright Future is coming March 22 via 4AD. The follow-up to 2020’s Songs and Instrumentals features the previously shared track “Ruined,” and, today, she’s shared the new song “Sadness as a Gift.” Check it out, along with Lenker’s tour dates, below.
The new album was co-produced with Philip Weinrobe and features Nick Hakim, Mat Davidson, and Josefin Runsteen at the analog studio Double Infinity. “It felt like everyone’s nervous systems released,” Lenker said in a statement about the collaborators’ time in the studio. “Once we were in the song, somehow we just knew. No one stopped a take. We didn’t listen back. I only listened after everybody else left.”
