Listen to Sunny Day Real Estate’s First New Song in 10 Years

After they teased its release earlier this week, Sunny Day Real Estate have unveiled their first new song in a decade: “Novum Vetus.” The seven-minute-long track was originally conceived in 1997 when the band first reunited to record How It Feels to Be Something On. Original members Jeremy Enigk, Dan Hoerner, and William Goldsmith finally brought “Novum Vetus” to life with the help of new members Greg Suran and Chris Jordan at Seattle’s London Bridge Studio. It also comes with a music video, which you can watch below.

While tracking “Novum Vetus,” Sunny Day Real Estate also used that recording session to work on a live re-record of Diary, their iconic 1994 debut. Diary – Live at London Bridge Studio arrives May 3 via Sub Pop. That same album is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, and Sunny Day Real Estate are going on tour to celebrate it by playing Diary in full.
