Paramore have won their first two Grammy Awards. The Nashville band took home Best Alternative Music Performance at the 2024 Grammys for “This Is Why,” the lead single from Best Rock Album winner, This Is Why.
Other nominees in the Best Alternative Music Performance category this year were Alvvays (“Belinda Says”), Arctic Monkeys (“Body Paint”), Boygenius (“Cool About It”), and Lana Del Rey (“A&W”). And Paramore bested Foo Fighters, Metallica, Paramore, and Queens of the Stone Age for Best Rock Album.
Hayley Williams and Taylor York had each won a Grammy Award previously for Best Rock Song for “Ain’t It Fun,” but today’s honors mark Paramore’s first official victories.
In October, Paramore released the remix album Re: This Is Why, featuring reimagined versions of those LP songs by Panda Bear, the xx’s Romy, Bartees Strange, Wet Leg, and others. It was the latest in a series of moves highlighting the pop-punk band’s evolution into a pop-rock act and its lasting influence on a new generation of artists.
