It’s time for the annual Oscars class photo – how did the stars get on?

Remember the days of lining up alongside your classmates for school photos, teachers smoothing your collar down as a frazzled photographer desperately tried to ensure dozens of little faces were all smiling for the camera at the same time?
Well, exactly the same thing happens ahead of the Oscars each year – just replace the teachers with stylists and the scruffy children with nominated A-listers with fancier wardrobes, and you have your Academy Awards class photo.

It’s the one chance to capture all the stars, including some of the most famous people in the world, in one place – no pressure, photographer Richard Harbaugh.
Sadly, we don’t have confirmation on whether mums and dads of nominees get to buy the photo to display proudly on their mantelpieces afterwards.
Featuring the award nominees of 2024, the picture is taken at the annual Oscars luncheon. This year’s event at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles was a chance for first-time hopefuls to mingle with the biggest stars and awards veterans of 2024, with filmmakers up for the likes of best animated short rubbing shoulders with Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone, Steven Spielberg and Martin Scorsese.

The dress code is daytime casual, although from the looks of it that probably has a slightly different meaning in celeb world.
Here are a few pictures from inside the event.
Margot Robbie is still wearing pink

Since Barbie’s release last summer, star Margot Robbie has wowed red carpets in a series of stunning pink-hued outfits that do her character proud.

The star did not make the shortlist in the best actress category, and filmmaker Greta Gerwig missed out in the directing group, but they are still Oscar nominees – Robbie as a producer, and Gerwig in the best adapted screenplay category. Plus, the film is up for best picture.
Ryan Gosling and Steven Spielberg

Speaking of Barbie, Ryan Gosling is up for an acting award – for his portrayal of Ken.
While he opted for lilac rather than pink, he did bring the Kenergy to the luncheon – and was spotted schmoozing with director Steven Spielberg, who is nominated in the best picture category as one of the producers of Maestro.
Bradley Cooper and Emma Stone collab?

Maestro, of course, stars Bradley Cooper, who is up for best actor, best original screenplay and best picture for his work on the film.
Here he is with none other than best actress nominee Emma Stone, who’s one of the favourites to win for her performance in Poor Things. We’d like to see a Cooper-Stone collab next, please, if you’re listening Hollywood.

Irish star Cillian Murphy has cleaned up this awards season so is favourite to be named best actor at the Academy Awards, too.
His co-stars Emily Blunt and Robert Downey Jr are also shortlisted in the supporting categories.
Billie Eilish

You can always rely on Billie Eilish to bring a bit of interest to a red carpet. She’s nominated (and favourite to win) in the best song category, for her Grammy-winning What Was I Made For? from the Barbie soundtrack.
She attended the event with her brother and songwriter-producer, Finneas.
