Oscars 2024: Oppenheimer Wins Best Picture

Oppenheimer has won Best Picture at the 2024 Oscars. The Christopher Nolan film bested nine other movies at the March 10 ceremony: American Fiction, Anatomy of a Fall, Barbie, The Holdovers, Killers of the Flower Moon, Maestro, Past Lives, Poor Things, and The Zone of Interest.

In her acceptance speech, Oppenheimer producer Emma Thomas (who is also married to Nolan) said:

Wow I think any of us who make movies know that you kind of dream of this moment. You know you do. I could deny it but I have been dreaming of this moment for so long, but it seemed so unlikely that it would ever finally happen.

The reason this movie was the movie it was was because Chris Nolan. He is singular, he is brilliant, and I am so grateful for you. But as I said, the thing that’s fantastic about our jobs is that it’s about collaboration, it’s about teamwork.

The 96th Annual Academy Awards took place at the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood in Los Angeles.
