Oscars 2024: Oppenheimer Wins Best Original Score

Ludwig Göransson has won Best Original Score for Oppenheimer at the 2024 Academy Awards. He accepted the trophy from presenters Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. In his speech, Göransson thanked his parents for giving him instruments instead of video games, as well as director Christopher Nolan for inviting him to score the film in the first place. “Christopher, it was your idea to use the violin in the score, and it allowed me to work with my wonderful wife and acclaimed violinist Serena McKinney,” said Göransson.

The other nominees were Jerskin Fendrix for Poor Things, Laura Karpman for American Fiction, John Williams for Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, and Robbie Robertson, honored posthumously for Killers of the Flower Moon. Mica Levi, Mark Ronson, and Joe Hisaishi were among the shortlisted entrants who did not receive nominations, for The Zone of Interest, Barbie, and Boy and the Heron, respectively.
