A British baby has died after a car crashed into a group of holidaymakers in Lanzarote, according to local media.
The driver, a 23-year-old British woman, who lives on the Spanish island, tested positive for drugs and alcohol, according to reports.
Two vehicles are said to have collided before a car mounted the pavement near the Aqualava water park in the southern holiday resort of Playa Blanca on Monday evening.
Officials said a five-month-old baby died, while two women were seriously injured and four other people were moderately hurt in the crash.
The baby’s mother, father and maternal grandparents were among those hurt, along with a mother and daughter from Sweden, according to reports.
The local government has declared two days of mourning following the incident.
“The Yaiza City Council expresses its solidarity with the victims and their families of the multiple accident that took place this afternoon in Playa Blanca,” a statement said.

Mayor of Yaiza, Oscar Noda, said in a post on Facebook officials were “dismayed by the terrible event” and “express our solidarity with the victims and their families of the multiple accident that took place this afternoon in Playa Blanca”.
