Adrianne Lenker has shared one final preview of her upcoming solo album, Bright Future, ahead of its release on Friday, March 22. The new song is called “Free Treasure” and it features Twain’s Mat Davidson on vocal and guitar harmonies. The Big Thief singer-songwriter will perform her track on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon tomorrow night. Listen to it below now.
“Free Treasure” is the fourth single from Bright Future, following “Ruined,” “Sadness as a Gift,” and “Fool.” The follow-up to 2020’s Songs and Instrumentals was co-produced with Philip Weinrobe and features Nick Hakim and Josefin Runsteen, in addition to Mat Davidson.
Last week, Lenker released I Won’t Let Go of Your Hand, a collection of six new demos that were recorded as they were written, on Bandcamp. All of the proceeds go to Palestine Children’s Relief Fund. In an accompanying note, she wrote, “I can’t express how sad and angry I am about this ongoing violence towards Palestinians. The killing must stop. The need for a ceasefire is beyond urgent. Permanent Ceasefire Now!”
