Jessica Pratt has shared a new single from Here in the Pitch called “World on a String.” The track arrives with a new video directed by fellow musician Kate Bollinger. In the clip, Pratt and a small commune of people are dressed in 1970s-style garments as they hang out in a field, drinking and picking flowers—a fitting look to match the song’s vintage, cozy sound. When describing how she wrote the song, Pratt explained, “I was influenced by the swaying, naive brilliance of ‘lost’ teenage garage rock bands, as well as enduring loves like the Nazz and Guided by Voices. Record the song moments after you’ve learned it on an instrument you’ve just picked up. Oftentimes, that’s all you need.”
Here in the Pitch comes out May 3 via Mexican Summer. Pratt originally announced a tour the same time that she revealed its lead single, “Life Is.” She’s since expanded that run with a handful of additional shows, including a live set at Pitchfork Music Festival in July.
