A major police operation is under way after reports of multiple stabbings in a shopping centre near Bondi Beach in Sydney.
Hundreds of people have been evacuated from the Westfield Bondi Junction shopping centre.
The Australian Broadcasting Corp reported that shots were fired.
Several posts on social media showed crowds fleeing the shopping centre and police cars and emergency services rushing to the mall.
Waverley Council said on X: “A police operation is currently under way at Westfield Bondi Junction. The centre is locked down amid reports of multiple stabbings.
