Donald Trump fell to the ground as he was giving a speech at a rally in Pennsylvania after several gunshots rang through the crowd.
He was quickly surrounded by armed security and stayed down for around a minute before rising to his feet and pumping his fist in the air.
The former president could be seen reaching with his right hand toward his neck and there appeared to be blood on his face.
An audience member is reported to have died as well as the gunman. The attack is being investigated as an attempted assassination.
