After playing some of the songs from it live, Phil Elverum has finally announced his first new Mount Eerie album in six years. Night Palace arrives November 1 via his own label P.W. Elverum & Sun. Leading the follow-up to 2018’s (After) are the singles “I Walk” and “Broom of Wind,” the latter of which comes with a music video. Check out those new songs below.
These aren’t the only songs fans have heard from Night Palace. Mount Eerie already released album cut “Huge Fire” as part of Colors, a compilation album by Tokyo’s 7e.p. Records featuring Lou Barlow, Jason Lytle, Quasi, Tara Jane O’Neil, Tim Kinsella, and others. He also contributed a demo version of “& Sun (Early)” to a Palestine benefit compilation.
There are two Mount Eerie shows planned for this November, in Brooklyn and Los Angeles, respectively, tied to Night Palace. Check out Elverum’s list of upcoming tour dates below.
Elverum’s previous full-length record as Mount Eerie was Lost Wisdom, Pt. 2, a 2019 collaborative LP with Julie Doiron. Near the start of the pandemic, Elverum resurrected the Microphones for the 2020 album Microphones in 2020.
