MTV’s 2024 Video Music Awards took place on Wednesday night (September 11) at UBS Arena in Elmont, New York. Taylor Swift entered the night with the most nominations (12), and she exited with the most victories (7). She won Video of the Year, for “Fortnight,” as well as Artist of the Year, Best Pop, Best Editing, and more.
During her acceptance speech, for Best Collaboration, Swift took a moment to acknowledge the September 11 attacks of 2001. “Everyone who lost a loved one and everyone that we lost, and that is the most important thing about today,” she said, “and everything that happens tonight falls behind that. But it is so amazing to have the opportunity to thank and honor the people who worked so hard with me on this video.”
Swift has now won Video of the Year a record five times. She also holds the record most career victories: 30.
