Watch Arooj Aftab Perform “Raat Ki Rani” on Colbert

Arooj Aftab made her late-night TV debut last night (December 9) on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. She played “Raat Ki Rani” from her new album Night Reign. Joining Aftab in her backing band were Kaki King, Maeve Gilchrist, Zwelakhe-Duma Bell Le Pere, Darian Donovan Thomas, Engin Günaydin, and Heather Ewer. Watch a replay of the performance below.

Night Reign, Aftab’s collaboration-heavy fourth album, came out back in May. Last year, the singer and composer linked up with Vijay Iyer and Shahzad Ismaily for their joint album Love in Exile, which has a range of memorable improvisations.
