Neil Harris is set to step down as Millwall head coach.
The Championship club said in a statement on Tuesday that Harris will leave after their league game at Middlesbrough on Saturday.
Millwall, who sit 11th in the table, host Sheffield United on Wednesday in the league before Harris’ final game.
Harris is leaving Millwall for the second time, having previously spent four years as Millwall boss from 2015 and 2019.
The club statement read: “Neil returned to the club in February 2024 with an immediate focus of steering the club away from the relegation zone. He successfully achieved this after collecting 26 points from a possible 33.”
Chair James Berylson added: “At the start of 2024, we found ourselves in a tough spot. Neil came in and along with his coaching staff galvanised the squad.
“After discussions with Neil in recent days, he felt it was the right time to step down from the role following the Middlesbrough game and I have accepted his decision.”
Harris leaves just days after appear to call a small section of the Millwall support “thickos” over criticism following Saturday’s 1-0 defeat to Coventry at the Den.
Millwall were without key trio Japhet Tanganga, Jake Cooper and Romain Esse and Harris felt the strong response from some was unfair given their absence.
