A man has been arrested on suspicion of murdering an Irish schoolboy who has potentially been missing for more than two years.
Police launched a murder investigation in October into the disappearance of Kyran Durnin, from County Louth.
Kyran was reported missing two months earlier but it’s suspected that the boy might have died in 2022 when he was just six years old.
Two houses in the Drogheda area have been searched as part of the hunt for Kyran. In late October, investigators also searched a former family home in Dundalk and adjoining land.
The arrested man is being held at a police station in the east of the country.
On Tuesday, a woman was arrested and questioned by Irish police before being released without charge 24 hours later.
Police officers have also launched searches at houses in two locations in Drogheda today with the aim of discovering any evidence which may reveal where Kyran is or what happened to him.
