1.38 Doncaster – Gavin Cromwell trained Brides Hill takes on three rivals
The Gavin Cromwell-trained Brides Hill was last seen winning a Grade Two mares chase at Punchestown by 21 lengths and comes here carrying a penalty with Sean Flanagan taking the ride in the Download The Raceday Ready App Yorkshire Silver Vase Mares’ Chase. This Listed contest looks a golden opportunity for the mare to add another black-type success to her name and she will take a lot of beating if in the same form as last time.
Fantastic Lady is likely to be her main challenger for Nicky Henderson and Nico de Boinville. She won the Oaksey Chase in open company towards the end of last season and looked in need of her run at Market Rasen last time. If on her ‘A-game’, she will be dangerous to discount.
Of the others, Le Renommee has been a revelation for connections over fences and looks to add more listed success to her name. Charlie Hammond takes the ride, fresh from his success aboard Val Dancer in the Welsh Grand National.
1.02 Doncaster- Jordans Cross looks to remain unbeaten over hurdles
Jordans Cross gained his first win under rules and over hurdles after making a decent start to life for Anthony Honeyball. Having cost £50,000 from the Aintree sales last year after winning a point-to-point at Quakerstown, he came well regarded. He was always holding his rivals at Southwell and looks to carry a penalty in the Sky Sports Racing Sky 415 British EBF ‘National Hunt’ Novices’ Hurdle.
Groovy Blue was a runaway winner of a bumper for Ben Pauling at Fontwell in Ma after moving from Emma Lavelle’s yard. He disappointed behind a potentially smart rival at Kempton and looks to bounce back.
Eternal Angel is one of interest for Henderson and has shown plenty of signs of greenness in two starts. If learning from those appearances he will surely go well.
2.47 Doncaster – Bugise Seagull reverts to hurdling
Progressive Bugise Seagull heads the weights and reverts to hurdling after pulling up in Grade Two company last time. He made a lovely chasing debut up at Carlisle on his first start of the year and the last time he was seen over hurdles was in Grade One company at Aintree behind Brighterdaysahead. If he returns to his old form, he will be dangerous on the front end.
Pyffo travelled well on stable debut for Harry Derham but flattered to deceive when getting tired late. He will strip fitter for that run. Bridge North‘s jumping has been somewhat of an issue for a such a big horse and if getting his jumping together could bounce back in this Sky Sports Racing Virgin 535 Handicap Hurdle.
Best of the rest
