Brazilian Olympic kitesurfer Bruno Lobo has rescued a woman who appeared to be drowning in the sea.
Mr Lobo captured the moment off the coast of Sao Luis on 10 January on a new camera that he was testing at the time.
Posting the footage on Instagram, the athlete said after sailing for a few moments, he heard a “cry for help” and looked to “see a girl drowning”.
He said he approached her, tried to calm her down and told her to climb on his back.

The footage of the rescue then shows Lobo – with the help of his kite – pull the woman back to shore, where lifeguards were waiting to assist.
“Lifeguards carried out first aid on the seashore and thank God everything went well,” Lobo wrote.
Issuing a warning to others, he added: “Be warned about the danger of the sea, rivers and any place you don’t know because the current in some places is usually very strong.”
Lobo made his Olympic debut at the Paris Games last year.
