Israel’s security cabinet has approved a deal with Hamas for a ceasefire in Gaza and the release of hostages and prisoners.
The deal is now set to go to the full cabinet for approval before hoped implementation on Sunday.
In its first stage, it will see 33 hostages freed over the course of six weeks, and in return, Israel will release between 990 and 1,650 Palestinian prisoners and detainees.

However, it comes as Israel continued intense strikes on Gaza, with Palestinian officials reporting 86 people being killed on the day after the truce was unveiled.
There were last-minute snags in the progress of the deal after its announcement, but they were eventually overcome following extensive negotiations in Qatar.
