Rocky Flintoff, the 16-year-old son of former England all-rounder Andrew Flintoff, scored a century for the Lions against a Cricket Australia XI on day two of the tour match in Brisbane.
England posted 319 in reply to Australia’s 214 with captain Alex Davies (76) and Freddie McCann (51) both also posting half-centuries.
The hosts, who won the toss and elected to bat, initiated a middle-order collapse taking four wickets for just 14 runs with Australia’s pace bowler Tom Whitney (4-72) being the pick of the crop.
However, Flintoff hit six sixes and nine boundaries on his way to his milestone whilst five England players were dismissed in single figures including nightwatchman Shoaib Bashir (4) and Josh Tongue (5).
After doing the bulk of England’s resistance lower down the order, Flintoff holed out to Ryan Hackney off Gabe Bell (1-45) in the 85th over.
England quick Sam Cook removed Australia’s captain Henry Hunt (1) cheaply during the second innings with opener Nivethan Radhakrishnan (24) and Tim Ward (8no) unbeaten at the crease.
Cricket Australia XI trail England Lions by 72 runs with nine wickets remaining.
Last year, Rocky became the youngest player to score a century for England Under-19s in the second Test against Sri Lanka.
