Ahead of a fascinating weekend’s racing, we have lots to look forward to on Friday afternoon with competitive action from Doncaster, Lingfield and Southwell; watch every race live on Sky Sports Racing from 11.35am.
2.03 Doncaster – Meetmebythesea bids for hurdles treble
Meetmebythesea looks to extend his unbeaten record over hurdles in the Virgin Bet Daily Price Boosts Novices’ Hurdle at Doncaster.
Ben Pauling’s five-year-old impressed when winning a maiden hurdle at Ludlow and bettered that when beating The Kemble Brewery over the same course and two-mile distance in a novice hurdle last month. He concedes weight all round but looks the one to beat.
Mythical Moon is entitled to plenty of respect also, with his run against recent Newbury winner Jurancon tying in closely with Meetmebythesea via his run against The Kemble Brewery.
Alan King’s runner also beat subsequent dual scorer Sixmilebridge on his first start over obstacles, so there is lots to like about his profile and he heads the dangers.
Debutant Sleeping Late is related to some prolific types so is worth a market watch.
5.45 Southwell – Wanderlust and Invited contest trappy novice
Marco Botti and Marco Ghiani team up with Wanderlust in the Bet MGM: It’s Showtime Restricted Maiden Stakes. Wanderlust has run with real credit on both starts to date and must be feared if benefitting from the slight drop in trip to a mile.
Invited is out of a full sister to top sprinter Caravaggio but remains a maiden after six runs and has an official rating of 76. Connections will be hoping the step up to a mile can eke out some improvement on his second start since making the switch to George Boughey.
Simon and Ed Crisford’s San Juanito is out of the 2020 Nassau and Yorkshire Oaks-placed One Voice and built on his debut to finish third at Chelmsford last month. Granted better luck in running he looks capable of making the frame under Sean D Bowen.
2.15 Lingfield – Patch’s Bond and Charlie’s Choice headline
A race that looks pretty strong for the grade sees three last-time-out winners feature in the line-up for this £30 In Free Bets With Betuk Handicap.
Pat Phelan’s Patch’s Bond comfortably claimed a Kempton novice stakes on his last start in November and rates an intriguing contender on his handicap debut under Paddy Bradley.
Top-weight Charlie’s Choice is a model of consistency on the all-weather, finishing placed on his last five starts and another strong show can be expected despite a 1lb rise in the weights.
The hat-trick-seeking Star Time is also worthy of a mention as he reverts to the Flat having tried hurdling at Newbury at the end of December.
Watch Doncaster, Lingfield and Southwell live on Sky Sports Racing on Friday January 24.
