The Beatles have won the Best Rock Performance trophy at the 2025 Grammy Awards. Their song “Now and Then” was honored over tracks by the Black Keys (“Beautiful People (Stay High)),” Green Day (“The American Dream Is Killing Me”), Idles (“Gift Horse”), Pearl Jam (“Dark Matter”), and St. Vincent (“Broken Man”).
Accepting the trophy in their place was Sean Ono Lennon, the late John Lennon’s son. “Play the Beatles’ music to your kids,” he said. “I feel like the world can’t afford to forget about people like the Beatles. We need this music in the world; we need peace and love.” Watch his speech below.
The Beatles’ “Now and Then” will also compete for Record of the Year later this evening, a category that they have yet to win in prior.
In 2024, Boygenius’ Julien Baker, Phoebe Bridgers, and Lucy Dacus won the Best Rock Performance Grammy for their song “Not Strong Enough.”
