Doechii has won the 2025 Grammy Award for Best Rap Album for Alligator Bites Never Heal. She makes history as the third woman ever to win in the category, having beat out records by Common and Pete Rock (The Auditorium Vol. 1.), Eminem (The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce)), Future and Metro Boomin (We Don’t Trust You), and J. Cole (Might Delete Later). Doechii was also up for Best New Artist at tonight’s ceremony. Her Alligator Bites Never Heal single “Nissan Altima” was nominated for Best Rap Performance, but Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” snagged that trophy during the premiere ceremony. Doechii is also set to perform later this evening.
“This category was introduced in 1989,” Doechii said through tears in her acceptance speech. “Three women have won: Lauryn Hill, Cardi B, and Doechii.”
