AA Vietnam Leads the Way in Autosobriety Training for Safer Roads

The AA Vietnam (Automobile Association Vietnam) has successfully piloted this program in three large cities in Vietnam in 2023 and continued in 2024.

Key 2024 achievements include:

  • 4,501 first-year students in Hanoi received Autosobriety training.
  • 100% of participants improved their understanding of the dangers of drink driving, with 95% reporting a shift in attitude towards safer driving behaviour.
  • Significant knowledge improvement, with average test scores rising from 64.53 to 100.73 out of 120.
  • Expansion of trainer capacity, with two new Master Trainers certified, bringing the total to eight in Vietnam.
  • Updated curriculum, incorporating changes to Vietnam’s Law of Roads and Road Traffic Order and Safety regulations.
  • Regional engagement, with a virtual seminar attended by 40 ASEAN representatives.
  • Creative outreach, including a Dance Challenge campaign promoting the programme’s message.
  • Widespread impact, with an estimated reach of 4.6 million people, including road users and media audiences.

Building on its success, the programme is set to expand across the region in 2025-2026, with planned implementation in Cambodia, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, Taiwan, and Korea. AA Vietnam will continue as the regional coordinator, ensuring the initiative’s growth and impact.
