The FIA Road Safety Index enables companies to showcase their commitment to road safety and highlight how they manage transport-related risks and impact. It provides a structured framework for assessing their road safety footprint, identifying areas for continuous improvement, and strengthening road safety measures across operations.

Built on a foundation of long-term commitment, the FIA Road Safety Index methodology offers a systematic approach to measuring, analysing, and enhancing road safety performance within the supply chain. Aligning with international recommendations, it helps organisations enhance their safety practices and meet the highest global road safety standards.

At the event, ACI Vallelunga highlighted BAT Italia’s achievement as the first Italian company to attain the highest score on the FIA Road Safety Index, aiming to inspire more Italian companies to follow that lead. The ceremony was attended by several leading companies, including Abbott, IVS Italia, Thales Alenia, WeBuild Group, BloomFleet SpA, API IP Group, Lux Vide, Philip Morris Italia Srl, Honda Motor Europe Ltd., FareImpresaRoma, Associazione Guida Sicura Italia, as well as the State Police.

ACI Vallelunga General Manager Alfredo Scala said, “We are proud to have hosted this celebration today, which marks a significant step for BAT Italia, but also for our country, in recognising the importance of road safety. The FIA Road Safety Index is a concrete example of how the private sector can commit to building a safer environment for all. We are happy to see a company like BAT Italia committing to this path and helping spread this culture.”

At the end of the celebration, participants took part in safe driving experiences, with all transfers to the driving areas made by the Tecnobus electric shuttle.

BAT Italia Head of Talent, Culture & Inclusion Greta Autieri said, ‘BAT Italia has always placed its people at the centre of its corporate strategy, promoting a safe working environment and adopting numerous initiatives to support the well-being of each employee. With this in mind, aware of the responsibility deriving from a car fleet in which more than 250 of its employees use company cars, BAT Italia has made participation in advanced road safety driving courses compulsory, a fundamental step towards ensuring safe and sustainable mobility in line with the company’s values. This path of commitment and responsibility has reached a new peak with the recent recognition by the FIA: the fact of being the first Italian company to have obtained the prestigious FIA Road Safety Index rating with the highest score in all the categories assessed is validation of the effectiveness and validity of the path undertaken, which stands out for its distinctiveness on the national scene. This recognition spurs us on to continue with renewed commitment on our path of attention and care for our people and their safety.”
